印第安納溜馬今年在選秀樂透抽籤中跌落至第5順位後，球隊籃球營運總裁Kevin Pritchard公開向球迷致歉，坦言球隊為了交易得到Ivica Zubac，選擇放寬首輪籤保護條件，最終付出了沉重代價。
當談到球隊的選秀權因保護機制轉讓給了快艇的感受時，溜馬籃球營運總裁Kevin Pritchard對此說道：
「對此很失望，因為這是一屆非常出色的選秀。很多人會問說『為什麼你們沒有把選秀權保護設得更深？』，很遺憾的是我們當時做不到，那就是我們為了得到Ivica Zubac所必須付出的代價。」
溜馬籃球營運總裁Kevin Pritchard所表達的一切也與快艇總裁Lawrence Frank先前說法一致，據了解快艇當時對於交易Ivica Zubac開出了非常高且堅定的價格，球隊內部甚至一度希望沒有任何球隊願意接受條件，因為他們其實並不想交易這位主力中鋒。但最終溜馬選擇積極出手，願意進一步放寬選秀權保護內容，才成功完成交易。
