據記者 Marc Stein 報導，聯盟消息人士透露，聖安東尼奧馬刺隊助教 Sean Sweeney 以及前全明星後衛 Rajon Rondo，皆為紐奧良鵜鶘隊新任總教練的候選人。
Stein 表示：「聯盟消息人士稱，Rondo 已經接受了該職位的面試。此前他曾在 Doc Rivers 執教的密爾瓦基公鹿教練組中擔任特別助理。據說 Rondo 在塞爾提克隊時期從十字韌帶撕裂傷中恢復時，第一次萌生了執教的想法，當時 Brad Stevens 還曾邀請他參與教練組會議。」
鵜鶘隊本賽季取得了 26 勝 56 負的戰績，排名西區第 11 位。
