在第三節中段，De’Andre Hunter 對 Josh Giddey 使出了一個極具殺傷力的crossover，導致 Giddey 痛苦地倒在地上，而 Hunter 輕鬆完成了一記扣籃。Giddey 一瘸一拐地走向替補席，雖然他很快就回到了比賽中，但整晚看起來都行動不便。Giddey 在這次受傷後沒有再得分。沒有了處於最佳狀態的 Giddey，騎士隊才能在比賽末段偷走勝利。

公牛隊在比賽結束時處於艱難的局面，因為 Coby White 賽季至今仍因小腿傷勢缺陣，而 Ayo Dosunmu 則在從四頭肌傷勢中恢復，上場時間受到限制。總教練 Billy Donovan 選擇在比賽中繼續讓 Giddey 上場，但他顯然缺乏爆發力，無法從運球開始擺脫任何人。

騎士隊的中鋒 Thomas Bryant 還在隨後的暫停期間模仿 Giddey 絆倒的樣子來嘲諷他。
