今日Shams Charania報導指出火箭後衛Fred VanVleet在休賽季訓練中遭逢前十字韌帶撕裂的傷勢，這對於新賽季目標爭冠的火箭來說無疑是個打擊，而預期火箭也將讓Reed Sheppard、Amen Thompson吃下更多控球後衛的時間。

而據新資專家Bobby Marks表示道，除非透過交易，否則火箭無法簽下自由球員填補球隊的空缺，因為火箭距離第一層硬上限差125萬美元。另外Bobby Marks也表示火箭可以申請1,410萬美元的傷病特例，但由於團隊薪資硬上限的限制，他們無法使用這個傷病特例。

火箭記者Kelly Iko也進一步曝光VanVleet的受傷細節，VanVleet是在巴哈馬群島的迷你訓練營中受傷的，而他也將在本週接受手術。
