先前由斯洛維尼亞對陣法國比賽的最後時刻，勝負已分的情況下Luka Doncic與法國球員Sylvain Francisco握手致意後，Sylvain Francisco依然選擇上籃拿下分數，這也讓雙方後續爆發推擠衝突，而Sylvain Francisco也因此受到了許多批評。

而針對此事發生的看法，法國球員Guerschon Yabusele為隊友Francisco表不平：「每個進球都至關重要，Luka的錯誤在於在應該由進攻方做決定時選擇握手。 」

由於Sylvain Francisco因為此事件遭受大批網友們的批評，甚至有激烈的網友因此做出了批評Francisco家人以及種族歧視的言論，對此法國男籃也發布聲明表示道：「Sylvain Francisco在社群媒體上發表自己遭種族主義言論和侮辱性言論的批評一事，法國籃球協會（FFBB）和法國國家隊對此表示全力支持。這些令人無法容忍的言論，與籃球運動所倡導的所有價值觀背道而馳。 」
