昨日獨行俠在客場以99-107不敵湖人，而該場比賽攻下35分、7籃板、4助攻、3抄截、2阻攻的Kyrie Irving，於賽後談到了自己與Doncic的關係，Irving表示自己了解到Doncic的天真、所以想保護好他。

當談到自己與Doncic的關係時，Irving在採訪中說道：

「Luka是一個很純真的孩子，同時他也極具天賦，整個世界都暴露在他面前所以我們想要保護他。因為我覺得有時人們會瘋狂地攻擊他，這完全沒有必要…所以我的目標就是保護他，這也是我們的關係比籃球更重要的原因。」
