Kevin Durant在2016年離開雷霆加入勇士當時引發了軒然大波，認為KD加入勇士造成聯盟版圖過度傾向勇士隊，而當年其實邁阿密熱火也有招募過Kevin Durant，不過當年當然Kevin Durant選擇加入的是勇士隊。

而在近日，前NBA球員Hassan Whiteside做客Udonis Haslem的podcast節目，談到2016年熱火對於自由球員Kevin Durant的招募。

Whiteside先說：「我告訴Pat（Riley），我說如果KD來了，我會降薪。更多的是我很看重贏球，我們會有Goran Dragić，Dwyane Wade，Kevin Durant，Chris Bosh，然後我打五號位。我會很投入的。」

Haslem自己也對這件事情表達自己的看法，他說：「我希望事情能成功，但那也是LeBron James離開不久後，我不知道KD想要應對那些。因為他所做的一切都將被與LeBron在熱火的成就相比較，像是四年每年都闖進了冠軍賽，媒體不會放過KD的。」

而Haslem也表示當時的KD有接受熱火隊會面，Haslem說：「所以我很高興KD接受了會面，我希望招募能夠成功，但是長遠考慮，我真不覺得那將是KD去邁阿密的時候。KD會被數落的，我早已知道情況會是怎樣發生的。」
