根據ESPN記者Adrian Wojnarowski消息，國王隊將裁掉今年暑假剛從自由市場簽下的Nerlens Noel和年輕球員Neemias Queta，主因是剛簽下獨行俠裁掉的中鋒JaVale McGee。

ESPN Sources: After signing JaVale McGee to a free agent deal, the Sacramento Kings are waiving centers Nerlens Noel and Neemias Queta to give them a chance to play elsewhere. Both signed partially guaranteed one-year deals with Kings this summer.

今年7/19，國王才剛與Noel達成一筆1年310萬美金合約（新聞連結），但在不到兩個月的時間，國王因為簽下了McGee，讓中鋒這個位置上深度滿出來，決定一口氣裁掉兩名中鋒。

當時就有報導傳出Noel簽的合約是非完全保障合約，要打完整季才能領滿310萬，沒有想到在短短不到兩個月的時間中，國王找到更好的替補中鋒人選，放手讓Noel去尋找下一支新球隊。

這樣一來國王的中鋒輪替將為Domantas Sabonis先發出賽，替補端有Alex Len和JaVale McGee。
