今日湖人在熱身賽以雙位數分差不敵太陽，而今夏湖人的重點補強Deandre Ayton本場比賽僅出手2次、攻下1分，除此之外他也有8籃板、2阻攻的數據進帳。當談到自己今日的表現時，Ayton表示自己想證明在防守端上自己更加專注。

當談到自己今日送出2次阻攻但僅有2次出手的表現時，Ayton在受訪中說道：「我想向球隊證明我在防守端比進攻端更投入…我來這裡不是為了數據，我來這裡只是為了湖人真正希望我做的事情。」

而Ayton在後續也表示如果LeBron James、Luka Doncic在場時，自己也將擁有完全不同的進攻機會：「說實話，和他們這些組織核心一起打球，不觸球可能很難。」
