勇士與籃網稍早已敲定了一筆交易，勇士將送出De'Anthony Melton與三個二輪籤，和籃網換取Dennis Schorder與一個二輪籤，這筆交易震撼了整個聯盟，其他記者也開始推估勇士可能的操作。
根據Shams Charania以及Marc Stein等記者的報道，勇士與籃網完成用Melton+選秀權換取Schorder的交易。
隨後據Shams跟進報導，勇士設想的首發陣容是Schorder與Curry組成後場搭檔，Schorder可以在控球後衛的位置上分擔一部分組織任務。勇士將Schorder視為這筆交易的優先目標。

根據Anthony Slater報道，Schorder在勇士後場的將承擔重要角色，他將可以和Curry配合，也可以在Curry下場時梳理球隊進攻。
Slater稱，Schorder的到來會減少波Brandin Podziemski和Buddy Hield的上場時間。
